Radio Amateurs of Canada Auxiliary Communications program:

Auxiliary Communications Services is made up of Highly Skilled volunteer amateur radio operators. The role of ACS is to supplement, or augment communications for local, provincial or national emergency management groups and non-government organizations when required. ASC teams are in essence an integrated unpaid member of the sponsoring agency. Auxiliary Communications (AuxComm) covers a wide range of amateur radio techniques and systems that could potentially be used during an emergency or disaster situation.
These systems can include: High Frequency (HF), Very High Frequency (VHF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF), satellite communications (SATCOM), microwave, digital voice, video, photos, Data over radio protocols, and other modes.
Amateur radio operators characteristics include adaptability and self reliance when working in the field. Knowledge of radio propagation and radio equipment are fundamental to acquiring an amateur radio.
